This spring, Scarsdale High School will field three Baseball teams:
Varsity Coach: Luis Gonzales, lgonzales@scarsdaleschools.org
Varsity Assistant Coach: Stephen Boyer, sboyer@scarsdaleschools.org
JV Coach: Reid Oreste, roreste@scarsdaleschools.org
Freshman Coach: Andrew Visconti, avisconti@scarsdaleschools.org
In order to tryout, players must have been cleared through the gold card process.
Tryouts will take place at Scarsdale High School, either on the field or in the High School Gyms. Times will be determined by field availability and weather conditions.
Each player needs to have a baseball glove and pants. No shorts. Please bring a bat and a helmet if possible.
Players are expected to be present at all tryout sessions. Missing sessions will be incorporated into the coach's evaluation of players for the Varsity team.
Tryouts consist of assessments of individual baseball skills. Each player will be evaluated on a player profile. Players will be placed on teams based on how they scored.
The coaching staff also tests the athletes for general athleticism.
Players are also evaluated on their cooperation with other players and their ability to take direction from the coaching staff.
Baseball is a commitment of about 2-3 hours per day, 5-6 days a week and occasional Saturday games and competitions. It is our expectation that athletes will be present for all team tryouts, scrimmages, practices, games and tournaments.
The regular season ends in June for all teams. Varsity is then eligible for post-season play.
