Scarsdale High School

Girls' Volleyball

Welcome to Raider Girls' Volleyball

We have four girls volleyball teams at Scarsdale High School as follows:

  • Varsity A is for the top volleyball players, regardless of grade level.
  • Varsity B is primarily for juniors and seniors who have a playing background and are competitive, but do not make Varsity A. As space allows, freshmen and sophomores are also considered.
  • JV A and JV B are for freshmen and sophomores. Some years these teams were evenly mixed between freshman and sophomores and other years we have had one team predominately from one grade, and the other team from the other grade.
  • Head Coach:  Ann Marie Nee, anee@scarsdaleschools.org

Varsity A Assistant:  Jessica Pulford, jpulford@scarsdaleschools.org

Varsity B Coach:  Josh Molina, jmolina@scarsdaleschools.org

Varsity B Assistant:  Jill Miller, jmiller@scarsdaleschools.org

JV A Coach:  Cassie Leach cleach@scarsdaleschools.org

JV A Assistant Coach:  Nancy Collins ncollins@scarsdaleschools.org

JV B Coach:  Jennifer Sharpe, jsharpe@scarsdaleschools.org

JV B Assistant Coach:   Madison Morey, mmorey@scarsdaleschools.org

  • In order to tryout, players must have cleared the gold card process.

Tryouts consist of assessments of individual volleyball skills such as

    • forearm passing
    • setting
    • hitting
    • serving
    • blocking

Court play and chemistry are also very important considerations.

The coaching staff also tests the athletes for general athleticism in speed, agility, endurance, and quickness through jump rope, shuttle runs, timed mile, sprints, etc.

Players are also evaluated on their cooperation with other players and their ability to take direction from the coaching staff and improve.

What is not considered at tryouts: participation on club teams, clinics, or performance on teams last year. Players are not guaranteed a spot on a team even if they played last year. Players are evaluated on how they perform at tryouts.

  • Volleyball is a commitment of about 2-2.5 hours per day, 6 days a week with several all-day Saturday tournaments.

It is our expectation that athletes will be present for all team tryouts, scrimmages, practices, games, and tournaments.

All teams will have scrimmages and games beginning the week of Labor Day.

  • Tournaments are an excellent way for the teams to gel and to play a lot of volleyball in a short amount of time. Please reserve the following Saturdays for tournaments:

    • JVA: Yorktown 10/5, Home tournament 10/26, one more TBA

    • JVB: Clarkstown South 9/28, Home tournament 10/26, one more TBA

    • Varsity B: Home tournament 9/21, Pelham 9/28, Francis Lewis, 10/26

    • Varsity A: Yorktown 9/14, Home Tournament 9/21, Clarkstown South 9/28, Massachusetts 10/13 or 10/14 TBD

For 2024, Varsity A and B will host a home tournament on Saturday, September 21 and JV A and B will host a Halloween-themed tournament on Saturday, October 26. JV players are expected to help at the varsity tournament and varsity players are expected to help at the JV tournament.

The regular season ends on Saturday, October 26 for Varsity B, JVA, and JVB.

Varsity A is then eligible for postseason play, which we hope concludes with the state tournament in mid-November.
