Fall Sports Update #2
|
Our Girls Tennis team finished an exciting season last night at Harrison High School. Scarsdale defeated Section IX Champion Washingtonville on Saturday in the Sub Regionals to advance to the Regionals. They played solidly in their matches but ultimately fell to a strong Port Washington team from Section VIII. They are a young team with a bright future.
The Boys Soccer team had an amazing run through the Sectional Tournament. They defeated a fast and strong Ramapo team in the Quarterfinals. They then faced New Rochelle in the Semifinals and won a 2-1 thriller. They played Mamaroneck in the Section Finals this past Sunday at Mahopac High School. After trailing 2-0, Will McAllister scored two goals in about a minute to tie the game in the second half. Unfortunately, Mamaroneck scored on a late penalty kick to seal the victory. Congratulations to the team and their coaches on finishing as Sectional Finalists.
Both the Girls Soccer and Volleyball teams saw their seasons end last week. Soccer fell to Mamaroneck in the first round. Volleyball defeated Mahopac in the first round, but lost to powerhouse Lakeland in the quarterfinals.
Game Day Cheerleading competed at the Section 1 Tournament this past weekend at Port Chester High School. They will take that experience into the winter Competitive Cheerleading season. Athletes do not have to cheer during the fall season if they wish to participate in the winter season.
The Boys Volleyball team will play North Rockland tomorrow at home in the Sectional Quarterfinals. Come support the boys in Gyms 3/4 at 5:00.
The Football team played North Rockland last Friday night. In an amazing turnaround from their previous meeting just a week prior, they won a hard-fought nail-biter. They move on to the Section Semifinals at Arlington this Friday at 6:30. Arlington charges $2 for adult admission and $1 for student admission, so please bring cash. Additionally, all spectators must go through metal detectors upon entry.
The Girls Swimming and Diving team will compete in the Section 1 Championships this weekend. Qualifiers will also compete at the State Championships at the Webster Aquatic Center on November 20 and 21.
The Section 1 Cross Country Championships will be held on Saturday at Bowdoin Park.
